Job Description
As a Government Payer Program Manager, you will serve as the primary point of accountability for all government payer programming. A newly created role driven by the award of a significant new government contract. You will lead projects from start to finish across various business units, managing deliverables that support government payer relations through internal teams, resource development, stakeholder communication, risk management, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate demonstrates proficiency in tailoring best practices, overseeing multiple concurrent initiatives, and partnering closely with cross-functional internal stakeholders including Executive leadership as well as external government and third-party payer partners.
This role carries direct oversight of payer relations with governmental agencies including Veterans Affairs (primary focus), Medicare, State Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, and TRICARE. Successful candidates must be analytical, solution-oriented, flexible, and engage positively with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate has built government payer programs before and thrives in environments with ambiguity and growth. This role with have no direct reports.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline
6 to 10 plus years of experience in government strategy, contracting, project management, or operations
Veterans Affairs contract experience, including pricing frameworks, policy directives, and regulatory requirements
Experience working with government agencies at the federal and state level
Strong understanding of government payer environments and compliance requirements
Experience interpreting government contracts, operationalizing reimbursement structures, and managing contract reimbursement requirements, including Department of Labor considerations
Working knowledge of Managed Care Organizations and health insurance benefit plan design
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on data
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, and Word
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Master’s degree
Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, or TRICARE
Intermediate or advanced analytical skills using Excel, Access, or data modeling tools
