Job Description

SUMMARY
We are seeking a Mission Operations Engineer III to support the orbital vehicle program. The vehicle is a long-duration, multi-role spacecraft designed for extended on-orbit operations, hosted payload support, maneuver-intensive missions, and evolving mission objectives over months to years.
This role is fundamentally about owning spacecraft operations as a system. You will help architect and operate the ground system, develop flight operations products, and lead mission execution for a vehicle that does not have a single “event-driven” endpoint, but instead requires disciplined, sustainable, and evolvable operations. You will work closely with spacecraft subsystem teams, payload customers, and mission management to translate vehicle design into safe, repeatable, and scalable on-orbit operations.
If you are motivated by building operations frameworks that must endure, adapt, and scale across long mission lifetimes, this role is for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ground System Management
• Architect the operational ConOps for missions, owning the operational interpretation of spacecraft design.
• Own and approve Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and ground system architectures supporting long-duration and multi-role missions.
• Lead system-level validation and verification campaigns from early integration through sustained operations readiness.

Required Skills & Experience

MUST HAVES
• 6–7 years of experience designing, building, or operating spacecraft ground systems, including ground system requirements, architecture, and databases.
• Hands‑on experience working in Linux environments with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes); not a heavy developer, but able to speak the software language.
• Working knowledge of Python scripting, with familiarity in MATLAB and/or C++, sufficient to collaborate with software and simulation teams.
• Proven experience building ground systems while incorporating multiple stakeholders, including integrating with external contractor architectures (e.g., vision/navigation systems).
Experience verifying computing environments, writing test and validation processes, and driving schedules to ensure ground system readiness and delivery.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
