Job Description

A healthcare provider in Houston, TX is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to join their team. The role involves ensuring the safe and effective sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment in compliance with guidelines. Responsibilities include decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing instruments using autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other specialized equipment. The technician maintains accurate sterilization records, monitors inventory levels, and coordinates repairs or replacements with Materials Management. A strong understanding of aseptic techniques and universal precautions is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with surgical teams to support patient safety and procedural efficiency. Exceptional customer service, confidentiality, and alignment with the healthcare providers mission and values are key to success in this position.

Required Skills & Experience

High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited central sterile processing tech program
Two year of experience as a sterile processing technician is required in an Ambulatory Surgery Center or hospital experience required.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certified CSPD technician
Knowledge of AAMI & AORN standards and recommendations. Clear understanding of
sterilization process.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience as a surgical technologist
