Job Description
An innovative employer within the utilities industry is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Corporate Accountant to join their team in the Houston, TX area. This position will be in a flexible hybrid environment and will report to the Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting. This role is hands-on and ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. You will be responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with cash and fixed assets, supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and performing ad hoc research or occasional analysis such as flux reviews. This position requires someone who is comfortable operating independently, proactively initiating workpapers, and navigating a fast‑moving accounting environment with minimal supervision. This is a permanent position paying $100-105K annually based on skillset and experience.

Required Skills & Experience
Approximately 5+ years of accounting experience
Self-starter who is driven, proactive, and comfortable working with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of account reconciliations
Ability to prepare journal entries and perform account research independently
Comfortable creating workpapers and initiating tasks without heavy guidance
Experience working with AP and AR
Experience within a smaller or high growth company environment where processes move quickly and change frequently
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both local and remote team members
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with a startup company or smaller company with public accounting knowledge as a foundation
Ability to meet high expectations in a flexible but performance-driven team culture
