Job Description

A leading Oil & Gas company in downtown Houston is seeking a Solutions Engineer / IT Business Analyst to join its Information Systems department. This role plays a critical part in the development, enhancement, and support of enterprise software solutions that drive downstream operations—including facilities capital planning, inventory movement, contract management, and accounting analytics. The current application in production provides Facilities Engineers and Production Engineers strategic insights into facilities capital planning. The ideal candidate will have a domain knowledge in the industry, as this person will be responsible for translating business requirements to the software development group.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the management and continuous improvement of a production-level enterprise application
• Translate complex business needs into clear technical requirements and documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, developers, and business stakeholders
• Prototype and test new features and workflows to enhance user experience
• Support the full application lifecycle—from concept to deployment and ongoing optimization

Location: Downtown Houston, TX Schedule: Onsite, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pay Rate: $60–$70/hr (based on experience)

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain
• Foundational knowledge of SQL (join and update tables) and ability to interpret relational data
• Understanding of marketing, supply chain operations, or facilities capital planning within the Oil & Gas industry
• Understanding of facility planning schematics (Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation, Construction, and Cost Impacts)
• Proven experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder engagement
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Analytical and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for solving complex business challenges

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience working with Software Development groups
• Python development skills
