Job Description
A leading Oil & Gas company based in downtown Houston is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join its Information Systems department. This role is focused on the development and enhancement of software solutions that support critical pipeline and storage facility operations. The long-term vision for this position is to evolve into a Product Manager or Product Owner for the application.
About the Role:
As a Solutions Engineer, you will take ownership of a key application currently in production, which supports: Pipeline Leak Detection, Future Emissions Detection, Facility Leak Monitoring (a newly developed feature), and Pump Curve Monitoring.
You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders—including field staff, division engineers, and software developers—to gather functional requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications. This role requires a strong technical foundation in Oil & Gas operations, paired with a business-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and enhance a production-level application used in pipeline and facility operations
Gather and translate business requirements into technical documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, development, and field operations
Prototype new features and workflows
Support the application lifecycle from concept through deployment.
Additional Details
Location: Onsite in downtown Houston (5 days/week)
Schedule:
Option 1: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (leave at 3:00 PM on Fridays)
Option 2: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (leave at 12:00 PM on Fridays)
Travel: 10–20% as needed
Compensation: $55–$70/hour, based on experience and qualifications

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering
1–2 years of experience in Oil & Gas field operations, particularly in facilities
Basic proficiency in SQL and ability to interpret data tables
Experience performing Business Analyst functions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A solution-oriented mindset with the ability to tackle complex business challenges
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with Python or light programming for prototyping
Familiarity with pipeline operations software
Knowledge of leak detection systems
