Job Description

An Oil and Gas company in downtown Houston is looking to hire a Solutions Engineer to join their Information Systems department, dedicated to developing and enhancing software that supports pipeline facility operations. The Solutions Engineer will manage production of a specific application responsible for Pipeline Leak Detection, Future Emissions Detection, Facility Leaks (newest feature, being actively developed), and Pump Curve Monitoring. The application is currently in production, but actively in use. They are in the process of redesigning front-end (expected 3 months to completion). The Solutions Engineer will work with internal end users, division engineers, development staff, and gather functional requirements from the field staff and the business to transfer into technical requirements for the development group. This role will require a technical background in the O&G industry with a business focused mindset. He/She may be responsible for creating prototypes to show how something functionally works in the system. The goal for the Solutions Engineer is to be eventually groomed into a Product Manager or Product Owner for this application. Applicants must be comfortable working onsite 5 days/week. Working hours are 8:00AM-5:30PM and leave at 3 on Friday or 8:00AM-6:00PM and leave at noon on Friday. 10-20% of travel may be required. Based on skills and experience, this role offers an hourly pay rate range of $40-58/hr.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of experience in O&G, specifically regarding facility operations

3-5 years of experience working with software development teams and field engineering teams to develop upstream O&G software applications

Basic understanding and experience with SQL

Experience with Business Analyst responsibilities

Training or experience in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with Python or light programming for prototyping

Experience working on applications related to Pipeline Operations

Degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering

Product Ownership/Product Management experience
