Job Description

A large Energy employer in the Galleria area of Houston, Texas is looking for a Senior Cyber Threat Analyst to join their SOC team. On a daily basis, this team of 6 will do daily pass offs with the SOC team in Perth Australia. This person will be responsible for running a global Security Operations team and manage common alerts in an alert que. Common alerts include: Identity alerts, malware alerts, phishing alerts, etc. Other alerts would consist of stollen equipment alerts and remote wiping those devices, DOP prevention and some floods. The Senior Cyber Threat Analyst will be involved in advanced threat hunting, purple teaming, advisory immolation, vulnerability management and threat intelligence management. The company is trying to move from a reactive environment to more of a proactive environment, so this analyst be involved getting the team there. This person will also be on a weekend on call rotation. They will be on call every 5-6 weeks. The on call work is very minimal and usually is about 1 hour of work in total. This position is required to sit onsite 3-4 days a week and pays between $70-$80/hr based on experience and skillset.

Required Skills & Experience

5 years experience in a Security Operations or Incident Response role (ideally working in a shift environment)

Strong technical knowledge of detection and response tools (Sentinel, Defender, Purview, etc)

Familiarity with adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (MITRE ATT&CK) and experience running incident investigations end-to-end

Experience in high-pressure incident response scenarios and familiarity with major incident management (MIM) and other relevant ITIL processes

Experience with advanced threat hunting, purple teaming, advisory immolation, vulnerability management and threat intelligence management

Strong verbal & written communication skills – able to brief senior leaders and mentor junior staff effectively
