Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Remote SAP S4/HANA Product Owner to support a leading oil and gas company. serves as the business-facing technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting warehouse operations, maintenance organizations, and project teams in an asset intensive oil & gas environment.

This role requires strong hands-on knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Materials Management (MM), Inventory Management (IM), and Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), with demonstrated understanding of how these capabilities integrate with SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM/PM).

The Product Owner acts as the voice of the business to enterprise SAP deployment and support teams, ensuring SAP solutions align with operational realities, safety, and reliability expectations. Key responsibilities include:

Product Ownership & Business Representation
• Serve as the primary product owner for SAP MM, IM, and EWM capabilities supporting warehouses, maintenance, and project teams.
• Own functional backlog, developed from business feedback. Support enhancement intake and prioritization across materials and warehouse domains.

SAP Functional SME – MM / IM / EWM
• Provide SME level expertise in SAP S/4HANA:
o MM: procurement support, material master, valuation, goods movements
o IM: stock management, physical inventory, reservations, goods issue/return
o EWM: inbound/outbound processing, puta way, picking, staging, inventory accuracy, and exception handling
• Support and guide design decisions for embedded or decentralized EWM implementations aligned to operational needs.
• Ensure warehouse execution processes integrate cleanly with inventory, finance, and maintenance workflows.

Asset & Maintenance Integration
• Demonstrate strong understanding of MM ↔ EAM/PM integration, including:
o Maintenance work order reservations and staging
o Spare parts issuance, returns, and scrapping
o Inventory impacts and reconciliation
• Partner with maintenance and reliability stakeholders to ensure materials processes support safe and efficient asset execution.

Process Mapping & Requirements
• Lead onsite current state and future state process mapping workshops with warehouse, maintenance, and operations teams.
• Translate operational needs into user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria for SAP teams.
• Ensure process designs address edge cases, controls, and real world execution conditions.

Deployment, Testing & Adoption
• Lead or support SAP deployments, releases, and rollouts related to materials and warehouse processes.
• Coordinate UAT, validate execution scenarios, and ensure business readiness.
• Develop and deliver training, job aids, and field-facing documentation.
• Support hypercare and stabilization to ensure sustainable adoption post go live.

Stakeholder & Governance Engagement
• Build trusted relationships with leaders, supervisors, and frontline users.
• Communicate risks, decisions, and tradeoffs clearly to business and IT leadership.
• Support release governance, change control, and documentation standards.


This person can work remote int he U.S. but requires significant onsite engagement (up to 50% travel a year, Monday–Thursday) to support process design, deployment, testing, and user adoption across field and warehouse locations. Travel locations include Texas, Colorado, New Mexico & North Dakota and candidates can expect to travel average twice a month but that will vary. All travel will be covered. Hourly pay rates for this position are starting at $100/hour but can go up to $120+ for the right skillset.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA MM and IM in enterprise environments.
• Practical working experience with SAP EWM supporting warehouse execution.
• Strong understanding of MM/EWM integration with SAP EAM/PM.
• Experience supporting asset intensive or oil & gas operations.
• Proven ability to operate as a business-facing product owner or functional lead.
• Experience leading process workshops, UAT, deployments, and training.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the year (Mon–Thu typically, on average twice a month).

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Multiple SAP S/4HANA deployments or rollouts.
• Experience in embedded vs decentralized EWM environments.
• Warehouse or maintenance operations background.
