Job Description

An Oil and Gas company in downtown Houston is looking to hire a Solutions Engineer to join their Information Systems department, dedicated to developing and enhancing software that supports the Completions group. The Solutions Engineer will manage production of a specific software responsible for data capture and data analytics. The application is currently in production, but actively in use. They are in the process of migrating it from WPF desktop app to web-based. The Solutions Engineer will work with internal end users, division engineers, development staff, and gather functional requirements from the field staff and the business to transfer into technical requirements for the development group. This role will require a technical background in the O&G industry with a business focused mindset. He/She may be responsible for creating prototypes to show how something functionally works in the system. The goal for the Solutions Engineer is to be eventually groomed into a Product Manager or Product Owner for this application.

Based on knowledge and experience, the hourly pay rate range for this position is $50-70/hr.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study such as geology, physics, petroleum engineering or geological engineering or 1 year of professional work experience in the O&G industry
2+ years of experience working with software development groups to develop a product, knowledgeable on the SDLC
2+ years of experience with SQL and Python programming
Experience communicating with stakeholders and gathering requirements

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience working on the development of data capture applications, such as Corva, Peloton (WellView), or a related software
