Job Description
A premier Energy Company in Houston is seeking an IT Trader Desktop Support Engineer. In this role, you will provide immediate, in‑person IT floor support to Trading and Front Office users, resolving real‑time issues to minimize business and financial impact. You will act as a local focal point and escalation resource, serving as a trusted “go‑to” technician within the trading environment. Day to day, you will troubleshoot Windows operating systems, PC hardware, networking issues, Microsoft 365 applications, Exchange, and Active Directory. You will support trading‑specific tools, analytics platforms, external market data services, online trading systems, and bespoke in‑house applications critical to trading operations. All incidents and service requests will be logged and tracked in ServiceNow, with coordination required across global service desks, application operations teams, enterprise IT teams, and vendors as needed.
As an Engineer you will help mentor and onboard new permanent and contract staff, providing guidance and technical leadership on the trading floor. You will maintain strong working relationships with traders, front‑office commercial users, IT partners, and management. You will support local software and hardware deployments, upgrades, and rollouts in alignment with enterprise standards. The role includes participation in regional business continuity and disaster recovery exercises to ensure operational readiness. Throughout your work, you will identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, and workflows, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that better support the trading business.
This person must be OK sitting onsite in Downtown, Houston 5 days a week (Monday-Friday). They will be on call every few weeks. This position pays between $40-$60/hr based on previous experience and skillsets.

Required Skills & Experience
7+ years of desktop, infrastructure, or end‑user support experience in a Trading environment
Knowledge of or exposure to trading analytics applications and platforms
Strong technical knowledge of Windows Operating Systems with experience
Strong experience with Microsoft Office (M365), Exchange, and Active Directory (All Microsoft Shop)
Experience supporting PC hardware, networking, and end‑user environments (HP desktops/laptops, iPhones & iPads)
Prior experience supporting Trading, Energy, Commodities, or Financial Services environments
Familiarity with market data services (Bloomberg, Reuters, ICE, MarketView, etc.)
Hands‑on experience using call‑logging / ITSM systems (ServiceNow preferred)
Excellent customer‑facing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with senior business users
Ability to operate calmly and effectively in a high‑pressure, real‑time environment
Proven ability to prioritize multiple competing demands
Self‑starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of IT support and troubleshooting processes
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with scripting or development tools (Excel advanced functions, VBA, Java, Power Platform, etc.)
ITIL certification or formal IT service management training
Experience acting as a floor lead or senior escalation resource
Exposure to business continuity planning and testing
Interest in automation, tooling, and continuous improvement initiatives
