Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Power Field Services Technician to join our client in the Houston and surrounding area. At this organization, our engineers and technicians specialize in electrical acceptance testing, commissioning, and maintenance testing for a wide range of clients including Utility, Generation, Industrial, and Commercial Facilities. We perform all testing in accordance with NETA/ANSI standards. We are committed to providing a culture of safety and technical expertise in the Power Industry. We are looking to grow our team.

Reporting:
Will directly report to the Director of Engineering and Service

Responsibilities:
Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance on low and medium voltage distribution equipment and substations.
o Breakers
o Transformers
o Cables
o Protective Relays
o ATS
o MCCs
o And more.
Adheres to testing and service protocols as well as customer requirements, ANSI/IEEE/NETA procedures and OEM requirements.
At least 50% of the job will be field service but it also requires in-house engineering and testing support

Locations: Houston or surrounding area
Hours: 40 hours/week with expectations of 50+ in some scenarios
Scheduling:
Most of the field work will be schedule out in advance and you will be aware of upcoming travel. On occasion, we may experience emergency maintenance requests (for example: we receive a call on Saturday and the team dispatches on a Monday).
Overnight travel will be required at times. (Usually a couple of days at a time - not extended periods. The longest a team was dispatched was 3 weeks - this is very rarte, this was for a massive project spanning from PA to Texas).
Travel: All expenses will be covered - you will be issued a company card, submit receipts for expenses, reimbursed, and you will pay the statement. Company Vehicle or personal vehicle with vehicle allowance(If vehicle is suited for work) + mileage reimbursement
Travel will range across the entire state of Texas, Eastern New Mexico, and Western Louisiana. Travel will be within an 8-10 hour driving distance. You will be compensated for travel time.
Environment: Note this is a field environment, customer equipment could be outdoors in inclement weather.

Required Skills & Experience

2+ years of hands on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing electrical equipment for power distribution system and substations.
2+ years of working on protective relays
Willing to obtain a NETA II or III level technician certification
Willingness to learn
Positive attitude
Must be comfortable working in a field environment
HS Diploma/GED or comparable experience
Ability to work independently without need for direct supervision
Capable of troubleshooting distribution and transmission controls circuits
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
Must have a valid drivers license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

NETA II or NETA III certification
Advanced degree
