Job Description
An employer in the Houston, TX area is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join their team. This group is currently responsible for the development of chemical products for the oil and gas company in accordance with the company's sustainability initiatives. The Chemical Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of chemical products that exhibit sustainability improvements such as lower carbon footprint, lower toxicity, etc. They will be working in a lab environment and need to understand organic chemistry, design of experiments, and have a background in areas like polymers, paints, coatings, and formulation related efforts. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for maintaining product documentation, author reports and assist in the commercialization of products.
Required Skills & Experience
2-5 Years of experience in chemical product development as a chemist or chemical engineer in a corporate environment
Advanced degree (MS or Phd) in chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar
Experience developing additives for drilling fluids, paints, coatings, or similar
Ability to analyze chemical products, assess performance and areas of improvement
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with Drilling Fluids
Experience in polysaccharide derivatization
Experience with fatty acids and derivatives chemistry
Knowledge of surfactants and development of direct and invert emulsions
Experience with developing complex formulations
Structure-activity analysis for chemical additives
Experience in chemical industry working for companies like Champion, Champion X, Ingevity, DOW, DuPont, etc.
