Job Description

A large food distribution company is looking for a remote Brigid security engineer to join their team. Responsibilities include:
Lead onboarding of various data sources (e.g., cloud storage, databases, on-premises file shares, applications) into the BigID platform for client environments.
Design, implement, and refine data classification and tagging policies and rules within BigID to meet client-specific data governance and compliance requirements.
Develop and configure records retention rules and policies based on regulatory mandates and organizational guidelines.
Architect and implement records management workflows within BigID, specifically focusing on the identification and remediation of redundant, obsolete, trivial (ROT) data.
Configure and optimize BigID for data archival and secure deletion processes, ensuring compliance with data lifecycle management policies.
Provide expert guidance and best practices to clients on data governance, data privacy, and records management principles.
Collaborate closely with client stakeholders, including data owners, legal, compliance, and IT teams, to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions.
Participate in troubleshooting and upgrade testing.
Document technical configurations, workflows, and client-specific solutions.
Potentially provide training and knowledge transfer to client teams.

Required Skills & Experience

Hands-on experience implementing and managing data governance or records management solutions
Demonstrated expertise in implementing data classification and tagging schemes, including policy creation and rule enforcement
Proven experience in defining, configuring, and enforcing records retention rules and schedules
Strong practical experience in designing and implementing records management workflows, particularly for ROT detection, archival, and deletion
Recent experience onboarding diverse data sources into data intelligence or data governance platforms
Familiarity with various data types and data storage environments (structured, unstructured, cloud, on-premises).
Solid understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their implications for data governance.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Previous experience with BigID or other leading data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, OneTrust, Informatica)
Certifications in data governance, data privacy, or records management (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CRM)
Experience working in a professional services or consulting environment
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and integration
