Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a BAS Design Engineer for a top Building Automation and Mechanical Services client. This candidate will be responsible for designing and engineering Building Automation System (BAS) solutions for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. The ideal individual will transform project requirements and mechanical plans into fully constructible BAS designs, develop HVAC control strategies, create detailed engineering documentation, and support projects through installation and commissioning. This role is best suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-performance automation solutions that improve building efficiency and system reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related experience
3+ years of BAS, HVAC Controls, or Design Engineering experience
Strong technical and problem-solving abilities
Experience with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and sequences of operation
Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC systems, construction, and contracting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to independently manage engineering designs and project deliverables

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Tridium Niagara experience or certification
Experience with networking and IT coordination
Experience with third-party system integrations
Knowledge of EPMS and DCIM integrations
Experience with RTUs, VAVs, AHUs, DOAS systems, hydronic systems, chiller plants, cooling towers, and boiler plants
Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities
Experience leading large BAS design packages
