Job Description

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of all facility operations within a mission-critical data center. This includes the mechanical, electrical, controls, life-safety, and general infrastructure supporting continuous 24/7 operations. The Facilities Manager ensures that all systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with internal standards and industry regulations. This position oversees maintenance activities, vendor coordination, operational procedures, and onsite staffing for the assigned building or group of buildings.

Facility Operations Oversight
• Provide daily operational guidance for mechanical, electrical, controls, and life-safety systems.
• Monitor, review, and approve maintenance activities, contractor work, and corrective actions.
• Ensure all critical alarms, events, and incidents are properly escalated and managed.
• Maintain full awareness of facility condition and operational risks.

Staff Leadership
• Oversee electrical, mechanical, controls, and facilities technicians assigned to the building.
• Lead shift coordination, staffing schedules, and task assignments.
• Support ongoing training, development, and performance evaluations.
• Provide mentorship and support to technical leads and technicians.

Maintenance Planning and Execution
• Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all facility systems.
• Review and approve work orders and PM schedules.
• Ensure documentation of all maintenance activities in the CMMS.
• Coordinate vendor resources for specialized testing or repairs.

Procedures and Compliance
• Review and approve all MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs before execution.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and internal safety standards.
• Support lockout/tagout governance and enforce proper safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate facility records, drawings, and system documentation.

Vendor and Contract Management
• Coordinate daily activities for all onsite contracted service providers.
• Review vendor scope, performance, and adherence to SLAs.
• Participate in contract evaluations and renewal discussions.
Project and Upgrade Support
• Assist with facility upgrades, retrofits, and expansion projects.
• Review design documents for operational impact and maintainability.
• Support commissioning and integrated systems testing as new systems are brought online.

Incident Response and Reporting
• Lead onsite response to facility incidents or events.
• Coordinate with engineering leads for technical analysis and recovery actions.
• Oversee incident reports, corrective actions, and post-event reviews.

Required Skills & Experience

• Seven or more years of experience in data centers, utilities, industrial facilities, energy, or similar mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and their interactions.
• Experience overseeing facility operations staff or contracted service providers.
• Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety practices.
• Ability to review and approve operating procedures and maintenance plans.
