Job Description
The Donor Development Manager is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospective ministry partners in support their mission. This position develops meaningful relationships with individuals, families, foundations, and other supporters to strengthen engagement and increase financial support for ministry initiatives.
Working closely with executive leadership, Development, and Communications, the Donor Development Manager will implement strategies designed to grow donor relationships, enhance donor experiences, and expand the ministry’s major gift program.
Essential Responsibilities:
Major Donor Development
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective major donors.
Develop and maintain a portfolio of assigned donors and prospects.
Conduct regular donor meetings, phone calls, and personal outreach.
Create individualized cultivation and stewardship plans for key donors.
Assist leadership with major donor engagement opportunities and relationship-building activities.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Strengthen relationships with existing ministry partners through intentional communication and engagement.
Coordinate donor visits, events, and ministry experiences.
Ensure timely follow-up and appropriate stewardship of gifts.
Work collaboratively with Communications to provide meaningful donor impact reports and updates.
Fundraising Strategy
Assist in developing annual fundraising and donor development strategies.
Identify opportunities to increase donor retention and giving levels.
Support special campaigns and strategic fundraising initiatives.
Research and evaluate prospective major donors, foundations, and funding opportunities.
Data Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate donor records and interaction notes within the CRM system.
Track donor activity, engagement, and fundraising progress.
Prepare reports and updates for leadership as requested.
Monitor portfolio performance against established goals.
Ministry Representation
Represent the organization in a professional and mission-centered manner.
Travel as needed for donor visits, ministry events, conferences, and related activities.
Maintain a thorough understanding of ministry programs and initiatives to effectively communicate impact.

Required Skills & Experience
-Bachelor’s degree preferred.
-Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor development, major gifts, relationship management, or a related field.
-Demonstrated success in cultivating and securing significant charitable gifts preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel periodically.
Ability to attend donor meetings, ministry events, and conferences as needed.
