Job Description

Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures for heavy industrial applications, such as refineries and power generation facilities. Develop and justify structural calculations to support design decisions.
Make informed technical assumptions and apply engineering judgement to independently complete assigned tasks. Draw conclusions based on thorough analysis and engineering principles.
Review and approve structural models, calculation reports, and drawings provided by engineering firms. Ensure all deliverables meet project specifications and quality standards.
Ensure that structures and foundations are designed with optimal weight and efficiency. Focus on achieving cost-effective and sustainable design solutions.
Prepare a variety of engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects, including detailed design documents, reports, and technical specifications.
Evaluate, coordinate, and provide detailed responses to construction Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure accurate and timely clarification of design and construction queries.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
At least 8 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a focus on concrete and steel design for heavy industrial applications.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required in the State of Texas. Additional certifications related to structural engineering are a plus.
Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro), strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent attention to detail.
Extensive knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials science, and construction methods relevant to heavy industrial projects. Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, RCSC, ASCE and IBC.
Experience with AutoCAD, Naviswork, Revit, Tekla and/or Advanced steel or similar design software.
Understanding of other disciplines such as: mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying
Following additional requirements is a plus:
o Proficiency in CAD software (Revit)
o 3D modeling in Revit to support deliverables.
o Generate design drawings that includes developing plans, elevations, sections and details for structural components.
