Job Description

Validate designs for processes handling flammable, toxic chemicals, and combustible dusts for factory engineering teams for code compliance and risk management (i.e., adequacy of safeguards).
Proactively communicate risks and propose mitigation strategies to leadership and stakeholders with clarity and urgency.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and identify potential hazards and operability issues in early stages of project design.
Lead safety prioritization in factory design, aligning internal and external engineering teams with clear, actionable guidance.
Strategize and implement engineering safety and hazard mitigation solutions in accordance with company risk management guidelines.
Facilitate risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP-LOPA, PHA, DHA) by driving collaboration with internal engineering, operations, safety, and environmental teams.
Lead scenario modeling efforts (e.g., PHAST, iPRSM) with feedback from internal stakeholders to deliver robust, data-driven risk mitigation discussions.
Lead Facility Siting efforts including dispersion and explosion modeling to drive effective system design.
Ensure risk mitigations are integrated into engineering designs through proactive follow-through and coordination.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in chemical engineering with at least 3 years of experience in oil and gas or petrochemical industries.
Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams in operations, EHS, and process engineering to identify and implement PSM (Process Safety Management) engineering requirements.
Strong understanding of core engineering disciplines and a proven ability to manage and facilitate engineering resources.
Experience designing manufacturing facilities in chemical process, battery, oil and gas, or semiconductor industries.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex problems into clear, actionable plans.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Highly desired: Experience with PHA (Process Hazard Analysis), Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study), or What-If facilitation, along with dispersion/explosion modeling.
A plus: Experience in dispersion analysis, flammability analysis, consequence modeling, combustible dust hazards, or reactive hazard analyses
