Job Description

Summary:
The Medical Assistant supports all practice physicians by delivering high-quality patient care and may substitute for the Front Office Coordinator as needed.

Major Responsibilities:
Collaborate with co-workers as part of the Medical Arts Internal Medicine team.
Prepare patients for exams and triage nursing calls.
Take vital signs and perform patient work-ups.
Assist with lab work and office procedures.
Prepare rooms for procedures.
Counsel and educate patients when necessary.
Handle pharmacy requests, request medical records, and respond to pharmacy or patient inquiries after physician approval; document medications in patient records.
Manage patient call backs daily in a timely manner.
File and pull patient records as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Substitute for the Front Office Coordinator when required.
Enter information accurately and completely into the computer system.
Perform other duties as requested by the physician.

Required Skills & Experience

Education: Vocational School, Nursing School, or Medical Assisting School.
Experience: 2–3 years in a physician office, hospital, clinic, or outpatient department.
Certificate/License: None required; CMA certificate preferred if available.
