Job Description

As a Mechanical Designer at Tesla, you will be responsible for creating and updating mechanical and piping models, producing detailed drawings, and ensuring design integrity across complex systems. You will collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet Tesla’s standards for performance, safety, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and update 3D models using Plant 3D and other CAD tools.
Create isometric drawings, piping plans, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Update and maintain P&IDs as required.
Identify and resolve clashes in piping and mechanical layouts.
Ensure compliance with design standards and project specifications.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate designs into larger systems.
Support prototype builds and resolve design issues during testing and validation.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
2+ years of experience in mechanical and piping design, preferably in automotive or industrial plant environments.
Proficiency in Plant 3D and CAD tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks).
Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of GD&T principles and tolerance analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Preferred Skills

Experience with piping layouts, clash detection, and design optimization.
Familiarity with PLM systems and design release workflows.
Knowledge of DFMEA and design validation processes.
