Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Facilities Electrical Engineer to work on site in Austin, TX and support the strategy and introduction of products based on unique and highly differentiated capabilities of a foundry for semiconductor microsystems and defense electronics companies. Their mission is to advance the state-of-the-art in critical semiconductor domains such as advanced packaging, and in the process to help restore U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. They are developing cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing technology that will define future roadmaps of semiconductor devices including logic, memory, 3D packaged devices, including thermal management, etc.

This position is responsible for overseeing the safe design and operation of various electrical systems for our semiconductor wafer fab and test facilities. The Facility operates over 150 different utility systems that include chemicals, gasses, variety of electrical systems, water systems, HVAC, waste, vacuum, and controls. Facilities works closely with the manufacturing team to understand how the utility systems impact the process as well as how to reduce consumption.


Responsibilities:

Design, operate, and maintain electrical systems supporting semiconductor wafer fabrication and test facilities.
Ensure the safe and reliable operation of over 150 utility systems, including electrical distribution, HVAC, water, gas, chemical, vacuum, and control systems.
Collaborate with manufacturing and process engineering teams to align utility system performance with production needs and efficiency goals.
Lead and support capital projects involving electrical infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and new installations.
Provide technical expertise during design reviews, construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting of facility systems.
Monitor and analyze system performance to identify opportunities for energy savings and resource optimization.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, as well as internal safety and operational standards.
Maintain accurate documentation, including as-built drawings, specifications, and maintenance records.

Required Skills & Experience

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering, preferably in a semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of electrical systems design, operation, and maintenance, including low and medium voltage distribution.
Familiarity with mechanical systems such as chillers, boilers, pumps, HVAC, and filtration systems.
Experience with project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor coordination.
Knowledge of semiconductor cleanroom environments and utility system interdependencies.
Proficiency in using AutoCAD, electrical modeling tools, and building management systems (BMS).
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
