Job Description
As a Packaging / Container Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, improving, and implementing automotive packaging solutions that support efficient material flow throughout the manufacturing process. You will evaluate existing racks, containers, and sequencing systems to identify opportunities to improve pack density, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
On a daily basis, you will work closely with manufacturing, materials, logistics, and plant operations teams to develop returnable packaging solutions for automotive components. This includes designing sequence racks, repack containers, and material handling systems that safely transport and present parts to the assembly line
You will analyze current packaging processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities that increase container utilization, improve material flow, and optimize floor space. Additionally, you will support the implementation of new racking systems by coordinating safety and ergonomic reviews, validating designs in the production environment, and ensuring successful plant integration
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive packaging design, rack design, container optimization, and manufacturing operations, with a proven ability to deliver practical solutions that improve efficiency and reduce overall packaging costs.
