Job Description
We are seeking a Sr. Project Manager to support a portfolio of linear asset and substation projects within one of our top utility clients organization. This role will focus on helping move early-stage utility infrastructure projects from kickoff through scope development, estimating, planning, and execution readiness. The Project Manager will play a key role in advancing projects that include distribution substations, transmission substations, and transmission switching station work. These projects are in the early phases and require a strong leader who can bring structure, urgency, communication, and coordination across internal stakeholders and external partners.
This individual will work closely with leadership to help push projects forward, support early project definition activities, coordinate with engineering and EPC partners, and ensure projects are progressing on schedule. The right person will be highly communicative, organized, and comfortable operating in an environment where processes may be evolving and priorities are moving quickly. This is an ideal opportunity for a Project Manager with experience in utility capital projects, especially within substations, transmission, distribution, or broader energy infrastructure, who can step in quickly and provide leadership during a critical project kickoff time.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate a portfolio of early-stage utility infrastructure projects
• Drive project kickoff efforts and help establish structure, momentum, and accountability across assigned work
• Partner closely with leadership to move projects from initial handoff into active planning and execution readiness
• Support development of project scope, estimates, timelines, and overall project planning
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure projects are progressing appropriately
• Work with engineering and external partners to help define project needs and support early-stage package development
• Provide oversight and coordination of outside contractors and/or EPC partners involved in project startup activities
• Track action items, key decisions, risks, and dependencies to ensure projects stay on course
• Communicate regularly with leadership on project status, roadblocks, and next steps
• Maintain strong organization across multiple active projects and ensure priorities are moving forward in parallel
• Act as the day-to-day driver of progress, helping the team move from concept and early planning toward execution

Required Skills & Experience
• 8+ years of Project management experience supporting utility, energy, or infrastructure projects
• Experience managing or supporting substation, transmission, distribution, or other linear asset projects
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
• Experience managing projects with multi-million (+) dollar budgets
• Ability to lead projects in the early phases, including kickoff, planning, scoping, estimating, and execution readiness
• Strong experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders, including internal business partners, project leadership, engineering teams, and external contractors
• Experience overseeing or coordinating with external engineering, EPC, or contractor partners
• Comfortable working with limited existing team structure and helping create momentum on projects that are just getting started
• Proven ability to be a strong leader, make progress amid ambiguity, and keep stakeholders aligned
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear updates, escalate risks, and work closely with leadership
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Direct experience supporting greenfield substation projects, distribution substation, transmission substation, switching station, or generation interconnect projects
• Familiarity with 345 kV, 115 kV, and/or distribution-level substation environments
• Experience helping develop project estimates, scope packages, or early engineering definition
• Familiarity with utility capital project delivery models involving EPC partners or outsourced engineering support
• Experience in a highly matrixed utility environment where teams are balancing internal approvals, stakeholder trust, and project ramp-up timelines
