Job Summary
As a High Voltage (HV) Superintendent, you’ll lead field crews in the hands-on installation, wiring, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage substation and transmission systems (115kV–765kV). This is a boots-on-the-ground role requiring technical leadership, coordination with engineering and project teams, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Projects span greenfield builds, brownfield upgrades, and transmission expansions across North America.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Lead in-house crews in installing, wiring, and testing HV equipment (GIS, AIS, transformers, protection & control systems).
• Develop and execute daily work plans; allocate resources and supervise craft labor.
• Perform hands-on installation and testing to ensure technical accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams to align field activities.
• Enforce EHS standards and maintain a safe, compliant job site.
• Document installation progress and support commissioning tasks (functional checks, energization, redlines).
• Mentor crew members to support skill development and team performance.

Required Skills & Experience
• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum 10-15 years of field experience in HV substation construction and commissioning
• Proven leadership of craft labor teams
• Expert knowledge of HV systems and standards (IEEE, NETA, NEC, NESC)
• Proficiency in interpreting drawings, schematics, and test plans
• OSHA 30, NETA certification, valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel across U.S. and obtain site access clearances
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with self-perform installation and commissioning using internal crews
• Strong hands-on skills in protection & control systems
• Familiarity with energization procedures and redlining documentation
• Mentorship experience for crew skill development
