Job Description

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Inspect vehicles thoroughly to assess overall condition prior to purchase
Identify mechanical, cosmetic, and structural issues that could impact value or risk
Detect signs of prior repairs, frame damage, or underlying concerns not immediately visible
Estimate reconditioning needs and collaborate with internal teams as needed
Use internal systems and resources to:
Calculate reconditioning costs
Determine appropriate purchase prices
Finalize buying decisions
Engage directly with customers in a professional, transparent, and personable manner
Negotiate vehicle purchases while maintaining trust and a positive customer experience
Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth acquisition and handoff processes

Required Skills & Experience

Must‑Haves
Hands‑on vehicle inspection experience with the ability to confidently identify:
Prior structural or frame repairs
Replaced or repaired panels
Signs of poor‑quality or undisclosed repairs
Proven experience evaluating vehicle condition in roles such as:
Automotive Buyer
Vehicle Condition Assessor
Other inspection‑focused automotive roles (e.g., CarMax, Manheim, auctions, dealerships)
Strong foundational understanding of vehicle damage, reconditioning needs, and risk assessment
High attention to detail and sound judgment when assessing vehicles
Ability to operate independently during inspections with minimal oversight
Professional, trustworthy, and customer‑facing communication style

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Prior direct automotive buying experience
Dealership or broader automotive industry background
Experience negotiating vehicle purchases or working in a sales‑adjacent role
Exposure to vehicle auctions or wholesale environments
Familiarity with estimating reconditioning costs or vehicle valuation tools
Candidates currently in inspection or assessor roles seeking growth into a buyer position
