Job Description

A large University and employer of Healthcare Professionals is looking for a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager oversees all procurement, purchasing, and supply chain operations for the College of Dentistry. This role ensures compliance with university, state, and federal purchasing regulations while optimizing the procurement of equipment, materials, and services essential to the College’s teaching, clinical, and research missions. The Purchasing Manager also manages vendor relationships, contract compliance, and inventory systems, ensuring cost-effective operations and accountability across all college departments. Daily oversight will be on procurement and purchasing management, accounts payable and financial oversight and inventory, asset and supply chain management. There will be planning, coordinating and executing all purchasing and procurement activities in this role. The Purchasing manager will also oversee invoice processing, expense tracking, and reconciliation. Ther will be collaboration with Accounts Payable and Finance for timely and accurate payments and some e financial reports and analytics on purchasing trends, vendor spend, and cost savings might be expected.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, and procurement
Experience with leading and managing a purchasing team/Supervisory experience
Knowledge of purchasing systems, contract management, and inventory control principles.
Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across departments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/procurement platforms (e.g., IRIS/SAP, SciQuest, or Jaggaer).
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced academic environment.
Associates or Bachelors Degree
