Job Description
A client is seeking an experienced Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Analyst to support, maintain, and optimize laboratory technology systems critical to clinical operations, patient care, and laboratory efficiency. This individual will serve as the bridge between laboratory operations and IT, ensuring reliable system performance, seamless instrument integration, accurate result reporting, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Configure, support, maintain, and optimize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related applications
• Manage interfaces between laboratory instruments, middleware, LIS platforms, and EHR systems
• Design, test, implement, troubleshoot, and support LIS enhancements, upgrades, and integrations
• Analyze laboratory workflows and develop technology solutions to improve operational efficiency
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathologists, clinical staff, IT teams, and vendors
• Provide end-user support, issue resolution, and training for laboratory personnel
• Maintain system documentation, change control records, and operational procedures
• Manage LIS test environments and coordinate vendor support activities
• Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Clinical Laboratory Science, Healthcare Informatics, Medical Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of LIS, healthcare IT, or clinical laboratory experience (8+ years required without a bachelor's degree)
• Experience supporting laboratory workflows, specimen processing, instrument interfacing, and results reporting
• Hands-on experience with at least one major LIS platform:
○ Sunquest
○ Clinisys
○ Epic Beaker
○ Cerner PathNet
○ Cerner CoPath
○ Cerner Millennium PowerChart
○ Meditech
○ Orchard
○ Allscripts Lab
○ LABDAQ
○ McKesson Blood Bank
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with laboratory staff, clinical stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with Data Innovations Instrument Manager/Data Manager
• Experience with HL7 interfaces, middleware, instrument connectivity, and integration engines
• Clinical laboratory, hospital laboratory, physician office laboratory, or health system IT experience
• Project management and system upgrade experience
• PMP, ITIL, CPHIMS, or similar certifications
• Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other healthcare regulatory requirements
• Experience with physician office ordering platforms (LabWorks, CareEvolve, 4Medica, etc.)
• Experience participating in at least one full lifecycle laboratory system implementation
