Required Skills & Experience
Responsibilities:
· Develop and optimize multi‑axis motion paths for automated shot peening systems using Fanuc 30i‑B controllers
· Program complex geometries using teach‑in modes and manual G‑code, including turbine wheel dovetail slots and other critical profiles
· Create and substantiate saturation curves (minimum 4‑point) to determine 1T saturation time and verify intensity compliance
· Configure and calibrate critical process parameters including air pressure, turntable RPM, nozzle distance and angles, and shot flow rates using MagnaValve controllers
· Perform 100% coverage validation, including magnified inspections (up to 25x) to detect surface defects such as bulging, rolled edges, or over‑peening
· Manage shot media classification and maintenance, ensuring compliance with fracture count and size distribution requirements for cast steel or conditioned cut wire
· Provide technical guidance on fixturing design and masking strategies, including fade‑out control in transition zones
· Serve as the primary trainer for production operators and supporting engineers
· Develop and support workstation instructions and standard methods for shot peening and related CNC processes
· Lead and support process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery
· Communicate effectively across a matrixed organization and work independently or as part of a team
· Support primary 1st‑shift operations, with flexibility to assist off‑shift development or training as needed
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Qualifications
· 3–5 years of specialized experience in automated shot peening, preferably in aerospace or heavy industrial gas turbine environments
· Proven experience programming Fanuc‑based CNC systems and working with process control software (e.g., IPS CIMCAP)
· Deep technical knowledge of Almen strip handling, intensity measurement, and mathematical derivation of saturation curves
· Strong understanding of peening process control, surface integrity, and fatigue‑critical feature protection
· Demonstrated ability to balance process development, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
