Job Description

Overview:
Insight Global is seeking a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team of one of their top customers. The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the design and analysis of Hot Gas Path and Rotor components for Heavy Duty Gas Turbine and Aeroderivative engines. This role works closely with cross functional engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure designs meet product requirements and design practice. The engineer will contribute to component optimization efforts with a focus on cost, manufacturability, and design robustness. An overview of the daily responsibilities are below:

• Mechanical design and analysis of Heavy Duty and Aeroderivative gas turbine components. Analysis focus will include evaluation of hot gas path and rotor components.
• Execute the design or evaluation of assigned hardware using sound engineering practices and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
• Participate and present in formal and informal technical reviews for all design tasks

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 4–8 years of mechanical design and engineering analysis experience
• Experience designing and analyzing turbine components (blades, nozzles, shrouds, and/or rotors)
• Hands-on experience using ANSYS for mechanical analysis
• Proficiency with NX or similar CAD software
• Ability to participate in and present during technical design reviews

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with Heavy Duty Gas Turbine or Aeroderivative engines
• Background working on Hot Gas Path components
• Exposure to Design for Cost, Design for Manufacturability, or Design for Variation
• Experience collaborating with Manufacturing, Heat Transfer, or Sourcing teams
• Familiarity with formal NPI or RCA processes
