Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a full-time Piping Department Head to work at one of our clients who specialize in construction & engineering. The successful candidate will oversee a team of 13 Piping Designers and Engineers, playing a crucial role in growing the department. This dual-role position involves ensuring standards, software evaluations, training processes, and procedures are in place. Key responsibilities include managing the team, collaborating with engineering managers, and executing proposals. Some travel for client visits is required to ensure project execution. The candidate will also perform engineering tasks such as Piping Isometrics, BIM/BIM Management, understanding 3D models and integration, clash detection, writing and developing pipe specifications, and conducting Cesear Analysis.


Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the technical quality of the department's work meets and exceeds professional engineering standards, aligning with company policies, client expectations, and national regulations. Implement rigorous quality control measures, conduct regular reviews, and foster a culture of excellence to uphold the organizations reputation for delivering high-caliber engineering solutions.
Optimize the utilization of departmental personnel by strategically planning, staffing, and allocating work assignments to ensure efficiency and productivity. Take ownership of discipline-specific cost and schedule commitments on individual projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.
Oversee and review departmental work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project standards. Conduct Independent Technical Reviews (ITRs) to validate design integrity and technical soundness. Lead the development of project proposals by defining engineering efforts and scopes of services, ensuring alignment with client expectations and organizational objectives.
Provide comprehensive supervision and performance management of team members, including conducting regular appraisals, administering salary reviews, and recognizing achievements to drive engagement and retention. Develop and implement strategic talent development initiatives to cultivate skills, prepare employees for future roles, and build a strong leadership pipeline. Oversee the design and delivery of robust department training programs, ensuring team members remain aligned with industry advancements and organizational objectives. Required Skills & Experience

Professional Engineering License (PE)
10-15+ years of Electrical Engineering experience within the EPC industry
Experience utilizing Autodesk or similar software such as Bentley, Hexagon, or Revit
BIM/BIM Management experience
Experience executing proposals and writing/developing piping specifications
