Job Description
We are seeking an M&A IT Project Manager for a 1-year contract, open to candidates working remotely across Canada with a preference for those based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of IT workstreams supporting complex mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. The Project Manager will partner closely with Corporate Development, business stakeholders, and IT teams to plan and execute system separations, including Transition Services Agreements (TSAs), from due diligence through Day 1 and final separation.
Key responsibilities include defining project scope, managing budgets and resources, developing detailed project plans, and ensuring timely delivery of milestones in high-pressure deal environments. The role also involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing risks and dependencies, leading data and system separation activities, delivering executive-level reporting, and conducting post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement and successful business adoption.

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of business project management experience, including M&A or divestiture projects
• Proven experience leading IT workstreams for mergers, acquisitions, or separations (due diligence through Day 1 and completion)
• Strong background in enterprise IT environments (applications, infrastructure, data management)
• Experience with Transition Services Agreements (TSA) planning and execution
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent, complex projects in high-pressure environments
• Expertise in project management methodologies with certification (PMP or equivalent)
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and understanding of accounting practices
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or PeopleSoft
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including executive and steering committee engagement
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with system separation, data disentanglement, and IT carve-outs in divestitures
• Experience building and executing cutover plans for Day 1 readiness and transition milestones
• Background working with Corporate Development and cross-functional deal teams
• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder influence skills
• Proven ability to identify risks, develop contingency plans, and drive issue resolution
• Experience delivering executive-level reporting and steering committee presentations in fast-paced environments
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and business processes
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams, vendors, and external partners
Experience conducting post-mortems and leveraging lessons learned for continuous improvement
