Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an intermediate Project Engineer to support an oil and gas client in Regina. The successful proponent will support the major projects space responsible for industrial and energy infrastructure projects. This role is project-focused rather than design-focused and supports the Project Manager in managing the project through the full lifecycle, from engineering and design through execution, commissioning, and startup. This role requires being on site minimum 4 days per week.

Day to Day
• Develop and maintain project execution plans, documentation, and decision records
• Support internal funding request applications and project approvals
• Coordinate with project controls on schedule, cost tracking, forecasting, accruals, and earned value reporting
• Interface with engineering and service providers to review technical deliverables and provide feedback (no stamping or formal design responsibilities)
• Manage and oversee site-level execution activities, including safety oversight for self-executed work such as hydrovac and geotechnical investigations
• Ensure alignment with internal HSE, engineering, and supply chain requirements, working closely with functional teams accountable for compliance
• Communicate project progress, risks, and execution status to the Project Manager
Support interpretation of schedules and cost reports produced by the project controls team

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Approximately 4–6 years of engineering experience in an industrial or major construction environment
• Experience supporting projects valued at ~$1M+
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) working toward registration required
• Exposure to project management principles strongly preferred; PMP certification is an asset
• Familiarity with industrial project controls concepts (schedule interpretation, cost management, forecasting)
• Canadian work experience preferred; international designations considered if registered as an EIT in Canada
Exposure to Primavera P6 considered an asset
