Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Hoist Engineer to join a global fertilizer and mining company, in Esterhazy Saskatchewan. The Senior Hoist Engineer provides technical leadership, engineering authority, and lifecycle stewardship for shaft infrastructure and hoisting systems at an underground potash mining operation. This role is accountable for the safe, reliable, and compliant design, operation, inspection, maintenance, and modernization of shafts, headframes, hoists, conveyances, and associated safety systems. The position works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and Regulatory teams to ensure production continuity, personnel safety, asset integrity, and long term performance of critical shaft and hoisting assets. The site operates two of the largest production friction (Koepe) hoists currently in service, requiring senior level Engineer oversight. This is a 12 month contract, with high likelihood of extension. shift is 9, 80 (9 hour days Monday-Friday, with every other Friday off).

Technical Competencies:
- Mine hoisting rope design, selection, installation, testing, monitoring, and retirement
- Conveyance design, operation, and maintenance (skips, cages, counterweights, guides, attachments)
- Full hoisting system engineering calculations (loads, braking, dynamics, safety factors, limits)
- Oversight of hoisting operations within Hoisting System Certificate requirements, including deviations and return‑to‑service approvals
- Risk‑based inspection programs and hoisting asset lifecycle management
- Knowledge of applicable mining, hoisting, and safety regulations

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or related Engineering discipline
- 15-20+ years of progressive experience in underground mining
- Drum, friction (Koepe) and Blair hoist experience
- 5-10+ years engineering/technical experience supporting greenfield or brownfield mine hoisting systems
-5-10+ years of direct operational experience with underground mine hoists
- Regulatory inspection and compliance experience
- Shaft rehabilitation, hoist upgrades and major capital project experience
