Job Description
The Scrum Master acts as a servant-leader, responsible for facilitating Agile practices within a cross-functional team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products. This role focuses on guiding the team in adopting and maintaining Scrum principles, removing impediments, and fostering a collaborative, self-organizing environment. The Scrum Master works closely with the Product Owner and development team to promote continuous improvement, ensure effective communication, support the delivery of value in alignment with business objectives, and report key metrics to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements
Scrum Master Responsibilities
Facilitation & Team Leadership
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand ups, Refinement, Reviews, Retrospectives) ensuring they were purposeful, time boxed, and outcome driven.
• Remove delivery impediments proactively, escalating as needed to protect sprint goals.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, trust, and shared ownership.
• Shield teams from unplanned work and scope creep, maintaining sprint focus.
• Enable team self organization and accountability for delivery outcomes.
Agile Coaching & Continuous Improvement
• Coach teams and stakeholders on Scrum values and Agile principles (commitment, courage, focus, openness, respect).
• Train teams on Agile best practices including Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), and working agreements.
• Lead effective retrospectives and ensured improvement actions were tracked and implemented.
• Mentor team members to support professional growth and Agile maturity.
Product Owner & Backlog Support
• Partner with Product Owners to refine, prioritize, and maintain healthy backlogs.
• Ensure sprint goals and release scope aligned to product vision and business objectives.
• Act as a delivery advisor to maintain clarity between tactical execution and strategic outcomes.
Risk, Dependency & Blocker Management
• Proactively identify and manage blockers with clear owners and resolution targets.
• Track risks with likelihood, impact, and mitigation plans; reviewed in governance forums.
• Monitor cross team and cross application dependencies, escalating before delivery impact.
Reporting Responsibilities
ALM Hygiene & Reporting
• Maintain high data quality across stories, sprints, and releases.
• Ensure sprint boards are current and accurately reflected progress and blockers.
• Leverage dashboards and reports to track sprint and release execution.
Metrics, Flow & Delivery Health
• Track and reported flow metrics, WIP, sprint burndown, and delivery health.
• Align sprint execution metrics (velocity, capacity, spillover) to release level stage gates.
• Provide real time visibility into delivery risks and bottlenecks.

Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience as a Scrum Master
Deep understanding of Scrum framework and Agile principles
Proven ability to:
Run all Agile ceremonies
Coach teams on Scrum values and best practices
Experience working in Agile SDLC environments
