Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an RPG Developer to join a highly specialized development team supporting a mission critical claims adjudication platform. This is a senior level role for an experienced developer who is comfortable working in a modernized legacy environment, handling complex integrations, and building secure, scalable solutions on IBM i.
The team is currently resource constrained and has significant work ahead, making this an opportunity to have immediate impact in a high visibility environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain applications on the IBM i (iSeries / AS400) platform
• Write, maintain, and modernize RPG (ILE and Free Form RPG) code
• Develop and maintain batch oriented processes supporting claims and data workflows
• Create and maintain embedded SQL within RPG programs using DB2 for i
• Build and support system integrations, including:
o API based integrations
o HTTP client requests
o File based data exchanges
• Support secure data transfer processes using:
o FTPS (TLS)
o SFTP (SSH)
• Work with DB2 for i tables to integrate with vendor based Java systems
• Customize solutions to meet evolving business and regulatory needs
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support data intake and outbound interfaces
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing systems while maintaining platform stability

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience with IBM i (IBMi / AS400 / iSeries) environments - 9 years at a min
• Senior level proficiency in RPG, must be able to modern code
• Experience working with multiple RPG variants/flavors
• Strong SQL skills within IBM i
o Proven experience writing embedded SQL in RPG
o Hands on experience with DB2 for i (other DB2 versions are not transferable)
• Experience with Control Language
• Familiarity with legacy IBM i components, including:
o DDS (Data Definition Specifications)
o Physical files
o Display files
• Integration experience across systems using APIs, HTTP, and database driven interfaces
