Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Hardware Specialist to join a major Canadian space company. The role is a Senior Engineer who will be the Verification and Validation Test Expert will be responsible for the design, integration, and commissioning of complex test equipment for the validation of mixed-signal (digital and RF) electronic products used in satellite and aerospace applications. The selected candidate will work closely with PCB, Digital (FPGA), software, and RF designers and will lead a product integration team developing test and validation systems for "flight" equipment. Responsibilities include task management, resource planning, and other daily activities to ensure effective team performance and adherence to budget schedules. Our dynamic work environment will provide the candidate with exposure to a multitude of fields of expertise.
Tasks:
Lead the design of complex test equipment in an aerospace environment.
Understand validation requirements and make recommendations to aerospace electronic unit designers.
Write and execute test procedures for aerospace electronic units.
Design and assemble custom test rack solutions, including devices for environmental testing, instrumentation, harnesses, etc.
Coordinate with FPGA designers and test software developers to finalize functional concepts and integration.
Develop continuous integration (CI/CD) frameworks and test sequences.
Assist the design team of the unit under test to produce the required data and compliance matrices.
Lead the testing and debugging of test equipment and support the design team of the unit under test during testing and debugging.
Produce technical drawings, reports, and other documentation.
Develop experimental techniques to contribute to the development of new technologies.
Prepare internal and external reviews of unit under test trials.
Plan team work to meet schedule and budget objectives.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, digital engineering, or equivalent, and 5-10+ years of experience testing electronic systems with high-speed communications (20 GHz+) and RF. .
Knowledge of qualification requirements for aerospace electronic units.
Good knowledge of various protocols such as RS-485/422/232, I2C, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, IEEE802.3, Gigabit Ethernet, SerDes, and other high-speed serial interfaces.few of them all of them, apart of them
Deep understanding of electronic circuits, reading electrical schematics.
Experience in an electronics lab with instruments such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, arbitrary signal generators, etc.
Experience with environmental testing processes such as thermal chambers, vacuum, vibration, aging tests, EMI, etc., is an asset.
Enthusiasm for aerospace with teamwork skills.
The ideal candidate would be multidisciplinary, proactive, enthusiastic, and a results-oriented team player.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Exposure to continuous integration (CI/CD) frameworks and pipelines (Jenkins).
Proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken, is an asset.
