Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a mechanical designer of mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) to join a major Canadian space company. As a Mechanical Designer of MGSE, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop subsystem components, products or structures used to manufacture, assemble or test state-of-the-art satellite products or subsystems. As part of one or more project teams, under the supervision of experienced engineers, you will be responsible for establishing the mechanical concepts and associated documentation for ground support equipment such as tooling, fixtures, jigs and mechanisms to assemble, test or deliver customized space products for our international customers. From the brainstorming phase through to detailed definition, you define the mechanical assembly components that ensure the safety of personnel and products. To define the product, you will use a range of advanced 3D modeling and simulation software to model concepts and predict their behavior. You will also participate in the preparation of the documentation required for the manufacture and use of the equipment. As a technical member of the design team, you will help coordinate activities related to your designs to ensure smooth project progress (configuration/distribution of documentation, follow-up of purchasing and assembly activities and utilization).
