We are seeking a highly motivated Cell Culture Scientist to join our Human Biology team, specifically within the Cell Sciences Group. This role supports cellular work across the department, with a focus on cell development, delivery, and supply. The successful candidate will contribute to screening projects, including a key respiratory initiative, and help scale up and automate complex cell culture processes
Key Responsibilities:
Thawing and recovering primary cells from donors
Maintenance of primary cell cultures
Freezing and banking primary cells
Registering and tracking samples, including using our internal database for Human Biological Samples
Coordinating requests for cell supply
Seeding and maintaining Transwell plates for ALI (Air-Liquid Interface) cultures, including microscope evaluation of cell differentiation
Creating and completing electronic notebooks for data capture
Being aware of relevant safety risk assessments and processes
Additionally, some ad hoc requests:
· Flow cytometry analysis of cultures
· Using automation for plate creation and maintenance
· Co-culturing ALI Transwell plates
This role is located in Stevenage, UK and will be fully onsite.

Hands-on experience with cell culture techniques, especially with primary cells.
Strong understanding of sterile technique and contamination control.
Ability to work independently and manage long-term culture timelines.
Experience with cell culture miniaturization and small-scale assays.
Familiarity with ALI systems and transwell-based culture formats.
Knowledge of respiratory biology or lung-derived cell models.
