Job Description

One of our large Pharmaceutical clients is actively hiring for a Digital Automation Engineer to join their project team for a 12 month engagement. The goal of this project is bringing in a new integrated automation platform, and taking manual processes to automated. They will be integrating the experimental data they are generating on those platforms into the client system, tying to LIMS, and then publishing to corporate data bases.

This role is pivotal in driving the digital transformation of our research processes through automation and advanced technology integration. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and IT colleagues to deliver cutting-edge digital automation solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, and high-quality data generation within our research teams. The Principal Scientist, Digital Automation will work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize opportunities to implement new digital approaches to enable automated data generation, analysis, and archival. The role will be responsible for the collaborative configuration of data pipelines, integration with IT systems, and deployment of necessary tools within the clients data ecosystem to facilitate connectivity to enterprise systems. These tools will deliver substantial improvements in data availability and speed to inform decision-making during the drug discovery process. In addition, the Digital Automation team will pioneer utilization of digital tools (including but not limited to Digital Twins and Data Orchestration Software) to enhance accessibility and user experience for scientists across RTech.

Duties:
- Develop and implement digital automation solutions within Research Technologies, aligning with the clients broader digital transformation goals.
- Coordinate the planning, design, development, and deployment of digital automated solutions that improve research workflows, data management, and experimental processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of digital automation solutions, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation to deliver robust, annotated data to AIML and Predictive Science colleagues for analysis.
-Provide training and support to research teams on the use of new digital tools and automation systems.

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor's or masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a relevant scientific subject area; advanced degree preferred.
-A minimum of 3 years of experience in digital automation, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
-Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), and commercial digital orchestration software.
-Experience with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
-Strong understanding of automation technologies, including robotics, AI, machine learning, and data analytics.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, C#, or Java.
