Job Description
This role operates as a hands‑on data engineering expert supporting enterprise data platforms in Azure and Microsoft Fabric. The individual will work across 10–15 concurrent initiatives, independently providing technical solutions to teams beyond assigned projects and revisiting prior work as end‑user questions or platform needs arise. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include contributing to data architecture and design discussions, supporting and optimizing Azure DevOps and/or Azure Synapse environments, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, implementing Python‑based solutions, and applying performance optimization across data pipelines and deployments. The role requires active use of Azure, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to balance execution with ongoing design and support responsibilities across a wide range of initiatives. The Expert Data Engineer works primarily as an individual contributor while providing 10–15% support and guidance to the team.

Required Skills & Experience
- 15 years in data engineering or data management/analysis OR 6-7 years of leadership experience or a combination of both
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric, Azure (DevOps or Synapse), Python, SQL, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience supporting data pipelines, performance tuning, and deployments
- Working knowledge of security, backup, and high availability
- Able to manage multiple projects
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Healthcare or payer environment experience
- Epic experience or certifications (Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito)
