Insight Global is seeking a Test Facility Component Engineer to oversee the execution of a complex test program for an Integrated Propulsion System (IPS) at a dedicated Compatibility Test Facility in Philadelphia, PA. The selected candidate will support execution of production and pre‑production IPS component testing as part of a highly technical propulsion engineering effort.
The engineer will provide hands‑on, deck‑plate support for main propulsion system (MPS) pre‑production equipment, including propulsion controls and subcomponents, motor drives, and propulsion motors. Support will continue through follow‑on motor module test programs and inter‑module testing activities.
This is an onsite role based in Philadelphia, PA. The position requires completion of a 6–9 month training rotation at another engineering site in CT prior to permanent transfer to Philadelphia. The role supports continuous testing operations, including second and third shift coverage as required. On‑call support outside of standard business hours, including weekends, should be expected. Remote work is generally not supported except under special circumstances. The Test Facility Component Engineer will collaborate closely with IPS component engineering groups to troubleshoot complex technical issues, ensure uninterrupted test execution, and support long‑term system improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite engineering support for IPS component testing and system integration activities
- Troubleshoot technical issues and determine root cause to rapidly resolve deficiencies and minimize test interruptions
- Perform surveillances of work within assigned technical areas of responsibility
- Serve as the primary onsite technical point of contact for IPS component suppliers
- Support development of engineering direction and technical guidance for IPS component groups
- Assist other locations with resolution of IPS‑related technical issues
- Support construction activities and shipboard integration efforts at manufacturing facilities
- Collect and analyze data to support IPS design improvements and technical documentation updates
- Interface with technical and management personnel across government stakeholders, laboratories, and vendors

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Marine, Mechatronics, Computer, Chemical, or Materials Engineering)
- 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Active DoD secret clearance
- Background in control systems, power electronics, variable speed motor drives, software configuration management, fluid systems, or thermal analysis
- Willingness to support extended hours as required by test operations
- Ability to perform effectively in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting naval, shipbuilding, or large‑scale defense programs
- Knowledge of integrated propulsion systems, component testing, and test facility operations
- Familiarity with military standards and specifications
- Experience supporting hands‑on testing activities and interfacing with Operations and Test organizations
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, team‑oriented attitude
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
