Job Description

Were looking for a Data Scientist to help build and refine the evaluation system for a large-scale search engine. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams to collect representative questions and datasets aligned with real-world use cases. Your responsibilities will include designing and executing statistical performance evaluations, analyzing results using visualization tools, and iterating on hypotheses to improve search quality. Youll also be responsible for producing documentation similar to white paperssummarizing methodologies, findings, and insights to inform stakeholders and guide future development. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, hands-on coding ability, and the ability to move from exploratory notebooks to production-ready code. Collaboration with engineering and product teams is key, as is a passion for data-driven decision-making.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist

Experience designing or contributing to evaluation systems for search or ML models

Strong coding skills in Python and R, with experience contributing to large codebases beyond Jupyter notebooks (e.g., production environments)

Solid foundation in statistics and probability

Experience with data ingestion, data visualization, and data analysis

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with tools such as Tableau and Kibana

Experience with search technologies and search evaluation metrics

Hands-on experience with A/B testing and performance evaluation frameworks

Exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and applications

Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or similar architectures
