Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support a large defense manufacturing project in Philadelphia. Training will occur first in Anaheim, CA for the first 4 weeks, and then will be in Philadelphia for the remaining time. Responsibilities include:

• Execute electrical and system-level test procedures on Power Conversion Modules (PCM) and associated submarine systems during integration and validation activities.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot complex electrical equipment, power electronics, and embedded control systems supporting nuclear submarine platforms.
• Perform hands-on testing using engineering tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, interface, and communication issues through structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Analyze test data, document results, and support verification of system performance against engineering requirements and test plans.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to support system integration, testing, and issue resolution.
• Support testing and integration of mission-critical submarine systems, including combat, sonar, communications, navigation, and power distribution equipment.
Work in high-voltage, high-power laboratory and shipyard environments, collaborating with engineering teams to ensure successful system operation and delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

Active SECRET Clearance
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical hardware testing, integration, troubleshooting, or validation.
• Background troubleshooting hardware- and software-based electronic systems; experience with power systems is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency using engineering test equipment, including:
o Oscilloscopes
o Digital Multimeters (DMMs)
o Power Supplies
o Data Acquisition Systems
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical hardware and power electronic systems involving software controllers, functions, and system interfaces.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation (e.g., integration test procedures, integration test plans).
• Experience executing electrical test procedures, capturing and analyzing test data.
• Understanding of electrical circuits and embedded software interfaces and system interactions
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to work independently in laboratory and test environments with minimal supervision.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with high-power/high-voltage three-phase electrical systems.
• Experience with the design, development, integration, and testing of power electronics systems.
• Experience with power conversion equipment/concepts including:
o DC/DC Converters
o AC/DC Power Supplies
o Inverters
o Rectifiers
• Familiarity with:
o Buck, Boost, Flyback, LLC, and Inverter topologies
o IGBTs, MOSFETs, SCRs, and other power semiconductors
o Transformers, inductors, and magnetic components
• Experience performing qualification, environmental, acceptance, or production testing.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, production, or field troubleshooting activities.
• Experience working in high-voltage, high-current, or high-power laboratory environments.
Working Environment – Personnel will be working in areas containing exposure to high voltage/current/power and loud acoustic noise. Lifting of equipment up to/exceeding 50 pounds may be required.
