Job Description
The Grants Accountant will support the financial management of federal, state, and local grant programs within an intermediate unit, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance across school-based funding initiatives. This individual will manage the full lifecycle of grant accounting activities, including budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, reconciliations, and financial reporting aligned with grant requirements. The role requires strong collaboration with program leaders, school administrators, and external stakeholders to ensure proper use of grant funds and adherence to regulatory guidelines. The Grants Accountant will perform cyclical grant activities such as monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, audit preparation, and grant closeout. This is an onsite role requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field and a strong foundation in Excel and financial analysis.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably including grant accounting or fund accounting
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis, and financial tracking)
Hands-on experience with grant budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance (pre- or post-award)
Ability to manage cyclical financial processes (monthly/quarterly reporting, reconciliations, audits, and closeout)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience working with federal or state-funded grants (e.g., education, nonprofit, or government funding)
Background supporting school systems, intermediate units, or public sector organizations
