Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with decent exposure to SAP HANA and strong expertise in Oracle databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting database issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring the reliability and security of our database systems.

On a day to day, this person will:
- HANA DBA would be responsible for maintaining HANA Databases.
- HANA DBA would be responsible for migrating data to HANA cloud.
The DBA will be responsible for performing takeovers and failovers and performing periodic disaster recovery tests .
- The DBA will be part of the technical team supporting all HANA environment lifecycle phases including planning, installation, configuration, patching, change-management, as well as backup and recovery planning.
- The candidate will provide technical expertise for HANA performance and tuning, as well as ensure all HANA systems maintain smooth operations through high-availability and disaster recovery.
- The candidate will be responsible for database troubleshooting, problem solving, application capacity planning, and optimization of database resources.
- The candidate is required to have strong database troubleshooting skills - performance tuning, patching, provisioning, and high-availability of HANA systems Monitor Hana Databases, setup alerting and automating the monitoring processes and data modeling.
- Experience using database trace utilities and trace log-file analysis Use HANA studio, DBA cockpit, analyze traces and dumps for memory and CPU consumption
- Experience in managing users and roles in SAP HANA system , verifying grants & running grant audits.
- The DBA will be responsible for creating audit policies and querying audit logs to reconstruct past events.
- The DBA will be creating workload classes , kill scripts , deploying and tuning thresholds for alerting .
- HANA Installation, Data Provisioning, Admin, Modelling. Implementing SAP HANA Security mechanism , and monitoring of HANA system. Integration of SAP HANA into different remote systems.
- Ability to configure predictive system warnings and monitor metrics to avoid unexpected system outages
- Running and troubleshooting sql scripts and ability to understand procedures, functions , triggers .
- Candidate should have good verbal and writen communication skills to enable joint troubleshooting sessions with disparate teams .
- Demonstrated subject-matter expertise with HANA HA & backup and recovery methods and tools.
- Flexible schedule which may include weekend or after-hour work

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience as a true Database Administrator specializing in HANA, Oracle, or SQL databases
- 3+ years in SAP HANA or S/4HANA database
- Strong troubleshooting skills: knows how to respond to error tickets, utilize commands, troubleshoot triggers and functions
- Expert in SQL and Database procedural languages
- SQL with procedural elements like conditions, loops, and exception handling.
- Familiarity with UNIX Platforms, ability to perform OS troubleshooting /patching/upgrades
- Ability to write and troubleshoot Shell scripts for automation

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with SAP Basis basic system admin duties
