Job Description

The Owner’s Construction Representative (“Owner’s Rep”) will serve as the client's onsite eyes and ears, representing the owner daily to help coordinate construction activities with plant teams, answer contractor/vendor questions, and verify progress and quality throughout execution. The construction contractor is accountable for schedule/deliverables; this role ensures transparency, accountability, and alignment to expectations. This role is ideal for a seasoned heavy industrial construction professional who is hands-on, steady under pressure, and capable of building productive working relationships while still holding contractors accountable.

Key Responsibilities:
Onsite Owner Representation / Coordination
• Represent the company onsite daily; coordinate between contractor teams, plant operations, maintenance, and vendors.
• Serve as a primary point-of-contact for construction questions, field coordination, and issue triage.
• Maintain a strong field presence and awareness of ongoing work (multiple work fronts, changing priorities).
Progress Tracking & Reporting
• Track daily/weekly progress vs. plan; validate contractor progress claims (e.g., “50% complete” means field-verified completion).
• Monitor milestones, productivity, and constraints; escalate schedule risk early with clear facts and recommendations.
• Provide concise field updates (progress, blockers, manpower/equipment status, next steps).
Quality Oversight
• Observe and report workmanship and installation quality; identify rework risk and ensure issues are documented and corrected.
• Support/coordinate QC activities as needed (inspections, hold points, punch items, turnover readiness).
Construction Scope Coverage (Heavy Industrial) Work spans the full range of industrial construction, including (but not limited to):
• Groundwork/excavation, foundations, building erection
• Equipment installs (e.g., conveyors/rotating equipment), structural steel, piping, electrical installation
• Warehouse/building support and associated sitework (as applicable)
Safety & Site Discipline (Field Leadership)
• Promote safe execution through visible field engagement, strong communication, and adherence to plant/site expectations.
• Identify unsafe conditions/behaviors and ensure they are promptly addressed through the proper channels.
Stakeholder/Relationship Management
• Maintain a professional, solutions-oriented temperament; build trust with contractor leadership and plant stakeholders.
• Balance collaboration with accountability—ensure work is executed as promised without unnecessary friction.
