Job Description

A client of Insight Global that is leader in the activated carbon industry located in Moon Township, PA is expanding their team and looking to hire on multiple Process Engineer III. The Process Engineer III provides technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Corporate departments. Key responsibilities include initiating plant improvement projects, supporting capital projects, offering technical assistance to production teams, resolving regulatory issues, and developing technical training. This role involves complex assignments that often require innovative solutions. The Process Engineer III evaluates the feasibility of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment, and coordinates the planning and implementation of projects within specified objectives and deadlines. The position requires managing multiple assignments while collaborating with staff, production teams, and maintenance personnel. It may represent a transition to a managerial role, with or without ongoing people management responsibilities. The role demands broad interpretation of engineering principles, theories, and concepts.

Key responsibilities include:
Identifying and initiating plant improvement projects.
Supporting plant capital projects and providing technical assistance to production teams.
Resolving technical regulatory issues and developing/presenting technical training.
Performing complex assignments that involve developing new or improved products, processes, and techniques.
Assessing the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment.
Coordinating the planning, organization, and implementation of engineering projects within specified objectives and timelines
Collaborate effectively across multiple departments and be flexible in supporting cross-functional assignments.
Communicate manufacturing improvement opportunities with senior management and implement valuable projects.
Develop technical proficiency in activated carbon manufacturing and stay updated on chemical engineering practices.
Innovate tools to enhance engineering and manufacturing processes.
Support Facilities Engineering in project development and execution.
Create process flow diagrams, material and energy balances, and draft P&IDs for business cases and capital requests.
Conduct economic analyses of proposed projects, considering multiple alternatives.
Guide outside engineering contractors, ensuring technical accuracy and feasibility of solutions.
Collaborate with contractors to produce detailed design documents.
Verify specifications and balances from external engineering firms.
Work with internal Project Managers to meet production and cost goals.
Provide engineering support to production plants and maintain strong relationships with plant staff.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in efficiency and production rates.
Mentor junior engineers in their assignments.
Participate in and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives.
Collaborate with plant management to enhance efficiency, cost, and quality.
Initiate and secure approval for cost reduction projects.
Coordinate design, installation, and start-up of new projects at the plant.

Hours of work: Full-Time position with hours Monday- Friday 9:00-5:00 PM - Expected to work outside of normal hours at times to support 24 hr/day plant operation and for occasional offsite assignments (Including 30% travel with concentrated periods of higher travel)

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) - Ideally Chemical Engineering but open to others
Have experience working within heavy industrial manufacturing/plant environments
5+ years of experience as a Process Engineer providing manufacturing development/optimization experience
Have experience in partnering with 3rd party Engineering Firms and verifying their work.
Have experience with heavy industrial equipment like Thermal Processing Equipment to Calciners, Heat Exchanges, Furnaces, and more.
