Job Description
One of our clients is looking for a Backend Engineer to help modernize and operate critical web applications. This engineer will build reliable, scalable, backend services (primarily .NET/C#, with Python and other frameworks and languages as needed), design and own APIs and data models, and raise practical engineering standards across stacks and cloud environments (AWS preferred; Azure acceptable). The right candidate is self driven, comfortable learning new technologies, adept at explaining technical tradeoffs to non technical stakeholders, and flexible with shifting priorities.
Compensation: $55/hr to $60/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years building backend systems, platforms, or services at scale and in production
- Strong production experience with object oriented languages
- Proven experience designing and shipping APIs that integrate with new and legacy systems
- Experience with source control (Git), automated testing, code review, and CI/CD tooling
- Hands on experience running production workloads in the cloud
- Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non technical audiences and stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with building and maintaining AWS services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, CDK/Terraform)
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills
- Frontend exposure with React, Vue, or Angular (full stack experience helpful)
- Familiarity with observability tooling (metrics, tracing, logging) and security scanning in pipelines
- Experience working with government agencies or public sector programs is preferred
