Job Description

This position will lead a range of mechanical engineering activities associated with delivering successful solutions to clients in the food and beverage, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical industries, and specialty chemical industries. Qualified candidates are expected to work directly with clients to define project requirements and deliver appropriate solutions to meet the stated needs based on a defined budget and schedule. Responsibilities include:
Development of standard engineering documents associated with projects at various stages of execution from conceptual design to construction documents:
o User requirement specifications
o Process and basis of design narratives
o Utility and process flow diagrams
o PIDs
o Equipment specifications and datasheets
o Equipment lists
o Instrument lists
o Line lists
o Tie-In lists
o Specialty item lists
o Relief valve calcs and sizing specs
o Piping specifications
o Sequence of operations
o Controls descriptions
o Startup and commissioning documentation
o HAZOP participation & documentation
o Mass and energy calculations
o Equipment RFP preparation
o Bid tabulations
o Process and clean utilities descriptions
o Provide input for development of cost estimates
o Develop and execute validation protocols
o cGMPs and sanitary design concepts
o CIP system design
o Contaminant dispersion calcs
o Dossier file preparation
o Materials storage and distribution system design
o Wastewater management system design
o 3D Model conceptual packages
Verify the correct implementation of systems as designed and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., cGMPs) during the execution phase.
Support the Project Manager with start-up and commissioning efforts during the startup and commissioning phase.
Execute projects of varying sizes with a focus on larger scope and/or higher technical complexity.
Ensure the quality of design documents.
Develop junior engineers.
Reinforce an atmosphere of safety and a commitment to design excellence.
Complete Quality Management Training and comply with the program, upholding a commitment to a culture of quality in all aspects of work.

Required Skills & Experience

BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 15 yrs experience in process engineering preferably in the industrial space
Familiar with requirements of cGMP and regulatory guidelines, including as related to equipment qualification and validation.
Experienced with utility, clean utility and clean process equipment specification, installation, startup, etc.
Experience in a design-build delivery methodology.
Computer knowledge: MS Office and MS Project. Experience with AutoCAD, HYSIS, AFT or similar process simulation software packages.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

PE license not required but highly preferred
